Stefan Schmid is a distinguished academic professional currently serving as a Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Vienna, Austria. He completed his MSc in Computer Science at ETH Zurich in Switzerland, with a minor in micro/macro economics, and undertook an internship at CERN. His academic journey continued with a PhD in the Distributed Computing Group under the guidance of Prof. Roger Wattenhofer at ETH Zurich. As a postdoctoral researcher, he had the privilege of collaborating with Prof. Christian Scheideler at the Technical University of Munich and the University of Paderborn in Germany. Prior to his current position, Stefan Schmid held the role of a senior research scientist at the Telekom Innovation Laboratories (T-Labs) and TU Berlin in Germany, where he was part of the Internet Network Architectures group led by Prof. Anja Feldmann. Over the years, he has also served as a Visiting Professor at institutions such as CNRS in Toulouse, France, and Université catholique de Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
